In what has been a very transitory few years for me I have found myself repetitively surrounded by these same few plants. A familiar presence in often foreign environments. The series of watercolours act as an ode to these plants that I have lived with. The plant specimens, Leucadendron I, II, III, IV, V, and Gaura allow for a closer examination of the familiar introduced genus. The studies present the plants in their various colours and states of decay. Similarly, the depiction of a cut Magnolia flower and Banksias preserved in water in Magnolia and Banksia Menziesii observes the ephemeral nature of the specimens. The slowly yellowing petals, curling leaves, and the interplay between the reflections of light and glass preserve the flowers in a moment of time.
